If you've been hanging around A Place Called Simplicity for any length of time you might remember that when we bought the RV last year we were dreaming {albeit unrealistically} that it was going to be "our beloved cottage."
For all the years we lived in Western New York we had spent much of our summers at the cottage. The cottage was built by Dw's dad and Dw as a little boy helped his dad build much of it. When we started dating, it still wasn't officially completed, so I even helped pound nails in the living room floor!
Many, many, many memories are wrapped up in that old cottage.
Sadly it was sold about 9 years ago, when my in-laws were too old to care for two homes...
In fact our grown kids have all said, if they become wealthy one day, they are going to buy the cottage back!
Well the other day Dw decided to call the current owner of the cottage and ask if he would mind if we picnicked on the lawn. He said, "anytime!"...and so we packed a picnic basket and off we went....complete with swimsuits too.
On the way to the cottage, we saw a yard sale...and they were selling a little inflatable canoe...we purchased that as well....and we had an afternoon of fun on the front lawn of our old cottage, once again. Although not really the same as staying there, we made the most of it....and we are thankful for the owners willingness to let us play outside it once again....
The view from the front...on the shores of Silver Lake, NY

In the mid-1800's with the concern of a dull tourist season looming, old man Walker created a Sea Serpent in Silver Lake...which many, many "saw"...
Lo and behold, here it is 150 years later and what to our wandering eyes should appear?? Another Sea Serpent...
I have glimpsed a similar type creature way out here in the PNW....
ReplyDeleteMAN those things are SCARY:::::LOL
Do the ones back there sing????
All I have ever heard from the ones out here, is an undulating hum...
I still have night terrors just thinking about it...
will be praying for you and yours...
that could scar a little ones mind for life, could that be what is the matter with Jubilee in the picture????
Just saying....
bahaha!!! sorry, but i couldn't concentrate after the sea serpent pic of Dw. hilarious!
