We finally broke the news to Tyler....

Yup.

He's adopted.

Every now and then I have mentioned Tyler's sense of humor.

Really, he is hysterical.

And quick.

Well as the story goes....Tyler does NOT like having his picture taken.

Ever.
{Maybe the only exception has been on his wedding day.}

Friday we went to downtown San Francisco to play.
We ended up at a place called Lori's for dinner.  Old 50's style diner...
and I got my camera out and started snapping pictures.

Tyler was between Dw and I.
I asked him to pose.

This is what he did.
Poker face.
Expressionless.
Deer in the headlights.
He does it just to annoy me.
Of course, I'm smiling and laughing, as is Dw.
And I have no idea he is posing like this.
Until I went to look at the picture and saw it.  I started to laugh.

Tyler leaned over and whispered in complete seriousness,
"Tell everyone that you guys just broke
the news that I was adopted."

{Hope it strikes you funny as well.  And by no means am I laughing about people who don't know until later in life that they were adopted.  Only the humor if our very Asian son were "shocked" to find that he's adopted.}

38 Simply Sweet Words:

  1. OHMYLORD - I am laughing hysterically!

I read this outloud to Mr. Daddy and we both chuckled and guffawed and I may have tried hard not to wet myself. (Not speaking for Mr. Daddy here)

  2. OH My Heavens,
I am soooooooo relieved, I thought you were serious and after reading the heading and seeing his face,
I was thinking he is not taking this too well for sure, what were they thinking???

Somehow I didn't think yall could be that, how should I say it..... unknowledgeable!! So glad you aren't!!

He is a good looking fellow, even if he didn't strike the pose you would have liked, I saw his pic in the sidebar with his wife, and he looks like quite a happy fellow there.
    Blessings,
    Nellie

  23. I found your blog yesterday through Stephanie from our Daily Smiles, and spent the larger part of last evening just reading and reading, it's so powerful.

I am still getting to know your family so when I read the heading and then saw Tyler I was like "you can't be serious". Gald to see your son has a great sense of humour!

I will be back for more and will be there to pray and fast as well, I have been touched.

  24. Thank you Linny for that laugh!!! I think God knew I needed it tonight. I am still giggling. When I saw the opening line and the picture, I just started cracking up! It reminds me of when people ask if we talk to our kids about being adopted. (Our first two are Bio, the second 2 are hispanic - we are caucasion...the next two? Well, we'll see what God has for us.) I loved your comment. (Yup. Still gigglin')

I think at least once a month would be great...and maybe once in awhile people could link up and say how the Lord has answered their prayers!

  32. I have the funniest story of our East Indian daughter. When she was a little girl (age 7) she was in the outfield playing on a girls' softball team I coached. She had her hat on and decided to run to the sidelines to give it to "Pop" (my dad). As she was running back to the field she turned around and said to him, "Pop, will you still recognize me?" "Yes, Shyamala, I will still recognize you." That's my girl!
