Our Boatload of Dreams.....
Welcome to Our Place Called Simplicity.
We invite you into our lives with one goal in mind: that you would be encouraged to live simply and truly love one another.
Married for 33 years, we are the parents of many. Eleven {so far} children. Eight of whom are adopted. We also have four sons and a daughter that we are parents of in Uganda as well. They were raised on the streets and had no parents until we "adopted" them 3+ years ago. So we really have sixteen children total {with more on the way}.
After 7+ weeks in Uganda, Emma {18} and I recently returned to the United States with our newest addition - a baby girl named Ruby Grace. Dw and Emma were leading a missions team in June 2011 where they had the privilege of meeting Ruby - a tiny 11 month old gem weighing only 6 lbs.
Our oldest daughter Abigail and her husband finally{!} allowed us the privilege of being Mimi and Jaja by bringing us our very first grand baby {from Uganda}...making us now, officially, a multi-generational adoptive family. Proof that adoption is a very, very good thing!
We've had the privilege of adopting our treasures from all over the world, some dubbed "special needs" we are convinced that the only TRUE special need a child has is to have a family.
Our peers are empty nesters, but we are certain that given this option to any orphan - "old mom and dad" or "no mom and dad", all would still vote for the old ones. So here we are - the old ones....doing it again....
If you are need of encouragement or wonder if God is able to move your mountain, please head over to the sidebar where Special Posts are listed. Start at Our Wild Adventure Part 1. You will be reminded of Almighty God's deep love for the orphan and how He will move mountains on their behalf....we call Him the Miracle-Working, Mountain-Moving, Awe-Inspiring, Gasp-Giving God!! Yippee Jesus!!
I am humbled beyond words and ever so grateful that the Lord is fulfilling a promise He gave me way back in 1982..."making the barren woman to be at home - the joyful mother of children" (Psalms 113:9). How I praise His name!!
16 Simply Sweet Words:
Oh how near and dear that is to my heart. I, too, insisted on wearing flip flops today and was back inside in 5 minutes. Such a sweet boy.
Aaaawww! Such a sweet boy! I, too, LOVE my flip flops (sandals)and even though it doesnt get all that cold here on the East coast of FL, you WILL find me wearing my flipper-floppers in the dead of winter!
Awe he is so sweet. Hugs
Elijah is too funny!
Oh how I love the wisdom we have gained being a second time momma. Don't you just LOVE IT????
Thanks for sharing. He is precious!
Carolee
Momma of an African girl who wore the same shoes when she went with me to the grocery store this morning in Colorado.
guess I should have clarified the 'second time momma status' we share....I too have some grown up boys, and am raising littler ones again. :)
Hilarious! Sounds like he is going to learn life lessons like me -- one experience at a time! Love you guys.
Some lessons are just better learned by experience, right? So sweet.
He would fit in at our house! My girls equate sunshine = hot outside:) The Queen wears shorts/up-sleeves/flipflops all year long; no matter the temperature.
Got me laughing. Cute! :)
Hope Dwight's alright and on the mend back to 100% :)
Cute!!!!!!!!!!
It is a sad day for our whole family when we put away our flip flops!! I'm with Elijah and would wear them year round if I wouldn't freeze!! Very cute pictures!
Oh, this is all too common at our house! Our Caleb(3 yrs) was out last week..BUCK naked, except for his cowboy boots;)! It was about 50 degrees out! He was helping Daddy work...hmmmmm
This reminds me of our house. In the summer our boys (now grown up) used to want to wear sleepers to bed. In the winter it would be shorts and no jacket. My girls now do the same thing. Kids just don't seem to notice the weather at all. It's so funny.
I love it. I love compromise, I love letting them determine what they want to do... its funny, obviously we have to give guidance but funny thing he came back in 'cause it was cold. hahah!!! My dad is from So. Cal and wears his "jackflops" all the time. We love it!
My kids are the same way! As I was reading this post, my 4 year old walked by in just a pair of cotton shorts. Why he thinks that's the most comfortable thing to wear when it's 30 degrees out is beyond me.
Love the compromise you made. : )
