Our Boatload of Dreams.....

Welcome to Our Place Called Simplicity.

We invite you into our lives with one goal in mind: that you would be encouraged to live simply and truly love one another.

Married for 33 years, we are the parents of many. Eleven {so far} children. Eight of whom are adopted. We also have four sons and a daughter that we are parents of in Uganda as well. They were raised on the streets and had no parents until we "adopted" them 3+ years ago. So we really have sixteen children total {with more on the way}.

After 7+ weeks in Uganda, Emma {18} and I recently returned to the United States with our newest addition - a baby girl named Ruby Grace. Dw and Emma were leading a missions team in June 2011 where they had the privilege of meeting Ruby - a tiny 11 month old gem weighing only 6 lbs.

Our oldest daughter Abigail and her husband finally{!} allowed us the privilege of being Mimi and Jaja by bringing us our very first grand baby {from Uganda}...making us now, officially, a multi-generational adoptive family. Proof that adoption is a very, very good thing!

We've had the privilege of adopting our treasures from all over the world, some dubbed "special needs" we are convinced that the only TRUE special need a child has is to have a family.

Our peers are empty nesters, but we are certain that given this option to any orphan - "old mom and dad" or "no mom and dad", all would still vote for the old ones. So here we are - the old ones....doing it again....

If you are need of encouragement or wonder if God is able to move your mountain, please head over to the sidebar where Special Posts are listed. Start at Our Wild Adventure Part 1. You will be reminded of Almighty God's deep love for the orphan and how He will move mountains on their behalf....we call Him the Miracle-Working, Mountain-Moving, Awe-Inspiring, Gasp-Giving God!! Yippee Jesus!!

I am humbled beyond words and ever so grateful that the Lord is fulfilling a promise He gave me way back in 1982..."making the barren woman to be at home - the joyful mother of children" (Psalms 113:9). How I praise His name!!

A Facebook Sandwich....

I asked a person in our home,
{whose name will remain anonymous}
to make some grill cheese sandwiches...

With a great attitude, they got right to work...
and they were coming along nicely...

until Facebook started screaming their name...

And now we have appropriately renamed it...

a Facebook Sandwich

Wanna' take a bite?

Linny, can you please publicize this? I know your heart for the orphan. Thank you.

It just needs a little scraping off & it'll be fine. ;)

Although... this is super mean to post... you're making me crave a grilled cheese now! And those are not exactly easy to come by here. :P

We have been having some burnt bloggy dinners around here every so often. Your blog might even be to blame once in a while. The dangers of cooking and surfing at the same time.

oh, if i had a dime for everytime facebook distracted me from what i was doing… i could have retired three years ago {was fb even invented then?}!!
haha to you for taking time to photograph the moment. what a fun little memory!

Oops! We've had a facebook boiled over spaghetti noodles over here...I'm trying to NEVER leave the kitchen when I'm cooking now. The office is just a tiny bit too far away from the microwave, oven and cooktop.

HA! I don't need a distraction to create a sandwich like that!! I watch the whole time its burning!! Isaac's preschool class created a "recipe" book of favorite dishes their moms made. Isaac contributed "burned pizza". As in take it out of the freezer, put it in the oven. Take it out when its black!! Not even kidding!!! Sheri

Funny! My mom always made 'sink toast' and I now occasionally do too;) we call it that as we have to scrape it off over the sink! LOL!

Uh oh.
I do not like to complain...but I do not care for a black grilled cheese!

;)

Hahaha! I had the same thing happen when we had company over. I was trying to make a sandwhich for my 2 year old and I kept talking and would walk away and forget....for like a half an hour!!! Yea...you can imagine what THAT looked like. =( It took 3 tries but I FINALLY got one! (With my laughing guests constant reminder to check it, lol!)

This is SO funny on so many levels:

1) that we all have cooking stories related to computer distraction
2) that you took a picture of the burned sandwich (now, that's a DIE HARD blogger for you!) And it's only funny because of the silly things I also take pictures of for my blog!
3) that you found it funny rather than being frustrated with the cook.

Love it! Thanks for sharing!

I laughed so hard at this! I've made similar meals; I just never thought to name them!

I have never commented on your blog but I do read almost every post. I am 21 and am on facebook quite often, and when I am cooking dinner things like this happen a lot, no matter how hard I try to not be distracted.

ROFL! That is too cute! I'm not sure if I have ever let the computer distract me ;) Ok...so maybe I have!!
