Our Boatload of Dreams.....

Welcome to Our Place Called Simplicity.

We invite you into our lives with one goal in mind: that you would be encouraged to live simply and truly love one another.

Married for 33 years, we are the parents of many. Eleven {so far} children. Eight of whom are adopted. We also have four sons and a daughter that we are parents of in Uganda as well. They were raised on the streets and had no parents until we "adopted" them 3+ years ago. So we really have sixteen children total {with more on the way}.

After 7+ weeks in Uganda, Emma {18} and I recently returned to the United States with our newest addition - a baby girl named Ruby Grace. Dw and Emma were leading a missions team in June 2011 where they had the privilege of meeting Ruby - a tiny 11 month old gem weighing only 6 lbs.

Our oldest daughter Abigail and her husband finally{!} allowed us the privilege of being Mimi and Jaja by bringing us our very first grand baby {from Uganda}...making us now, officially, a multi-generational adoptive family. Proof that adoption is a very, very good thing!

We've had the privilege of adopting our treasures from all over the world, some dubbed "special needs" we are convinced that the only TRUE special need a child has is to have a family.

Our peers are empty nesters, but we are certain that given this option to any orphan - "old mom and dad" or "no mom and dad", all would still vote for the old ones. So here we are - the old ones....doing it again....

If you are need of encouragement or wonder if God is able to move your mountain, please head over to the sidebar where Special Posts are listed. Start at Our Wild Adventure Part 1. You will be reminded of Almighty God's deep love for the orphan and how He will move mountains on their behalf....we call Him the Miracle-Working, Mountain-Moving, Awe-Inspiring, Gasp-Giving God!! Yippee Jesus!!

I am humbled beyond words and ever so grateful that the Lord is fulfilling a promise He gave me way back in 1982..."making the barren woman to be at home - the joyful mother of children" (Psalms 113:9). How I praise His name!!

Perpendicular

Thank you to all who have been praying for my sweet hubby.

I have to tell ya'....

I posted yesterday that it would be 18 hours till I would be picking he and Emma up.   Dw was waiting at the airport and opened Our Place Called Simplicity and read that post.   By the way, it absolutely him to pieces to know that the Knee Team was interceding for him.  He even mentioned the Knee Team on Facebook last night.

After reading the post, he dashed me a message which said, "Is it really only 18 hours till I see you?"  With international travel, it's so hard to figure out how many hours till whatever with all the time zones and such and he was thinking it had to be waaaay more than 18 hours.

Well I confess right here and now that I have never been all that great at Math.   Spelling is just so much more my thing.  So when his message came I re-checked my Math.

Ooops.

 Sorry Babe.

I sent a message back:

"Ooops.  It's really 36 hours.
So sorry honey.  I love you!
You know I never was too good at Math.
But - I can spell "perpendicular"."

*sigh*

Dw was able to get ahold of me from Europe for just a bit.
He said that although he had only slept 45 minutes, he was feeling better.  He said he thought that he was probably so wore out from preaching somewhere around 25 times in 3 weeks.  Now, there's a thought!

They are now heading to the United States and we are leaving here soon to start the drive to the airport.  The kids are so excited to be taking a trip that will end in seeing Emmy and Daddy!!

Grateful that DW is feeling better. Been praying through the day and night - woke up thinking of you guys, each quiet moment, doing laundry - whatever, been prayin'. God has much planned for him. Satan may think he can kill, steal and destroy but, no, not here, not now 'cause Jesus reigns.

oh my heart be still...thank You Lord for Your faithfulness and power, healing and refreshing, blessing and loving this precious family back all together! Can't wait to hear they are safely home, sound asleep! Nobody has earned more blissful sleep then those two (& you...you made it through 3 weeks! Awesome job!!) i think the 18 hours idea refreshed and spurred them on as they traveled! "Yes, we can do 18 more hours" By the time they realized it was a tad more, they were nearly home (kinda) but on their way nonetheless and home ever closer!! Purposeful math i'd say from the Lord! i know i kept saying...only 18 more hours...what a privilege to pray for all of you! oh Bless this time Father...bless this sweet sweet time! Praising Him for the great things He has done through all of you! Hurray, they are almost home!<3
