Our Boatload of Dreams.....

Welcome to Our Place Called Simplicity.

We invite you into our lives with one goal in mind: that you would be encouraged to live simply and truly love one another.

Married for 33 years, we are the parents of many. Eleven {so far} children. Eight of whom are adopted. We also have four sons and a daughter that we are parents of in Uganda as well. They were raised on the streets and had no parents until we "adopted" them 3+ years ago. So we really have sixteen children total {with more on the way}.

After 7+ weeks in Uganda, Emma {18} and I recently returned to the United States with our newest addition - a baby girl named Ruby Grace. Dw and Emma were leading a missions team in June 2011 where they had the privilege of meeting Ruby - a tiny 11 month old gem weighing only 6 lbs.

Our oldest daughter Abigail and her husband finally{!} allowed us the privilege of being Mimi and Jaja by bringing us our very first grand baby {from Uganda}...making us now, officially, a multi-generational adoptive family. Proof that adoption is a very, very good thing!

We've had the privilege of adopting our treasures from all over the world, some dubbed "special needs" we are convinced that the only TRUE special need a child has is to have a family.

Our peers are empty nesters, but we are certain that given this option to any orphan - "old mom and dad" or "no mom and dad", all would still vote for the old ones. So here we are - the old ones....doing it again....

If you are need of encouragement or wonder if God is able to move your mountain, please head over to the sidebar where Special Posts are listed. Start at Our Wild Adventure Part 1. You will be reminded of Almighty God's deep love for the orphan and how He will move mountains on their behalf....we call Him the Miracle-Working, Mountain-Moving, Awe-Inspiring, Gasp-Giving God!! Yippee Jesus!!

I am humbled beyond words and ever so grateful that the Lord is fulfilling a promise He gave me way back in 1982..."making the barren woman to be at home - the joyful mother of children" (Psalms 113:9). How I praise His name!!

Our Friend Leo Godzich

Yesterday night I learned that a friend of ours
went to be with the Lord.

His name was Leo Godzich.  Leo and his wife Molly have a worldwide marriage ministry called NAME {National Association of Marriage Enhancement} based in Phoenix, Arizona.

We had had Molly and Leo come and teach a
marriage conference at our church this spring.
I think I even mentioned it in one of my posts.
It was awesome!

While at our church we talked with Leo and Molly about Uganda.  They had ministered a great deal in Uganda and upon learning Dw and I have also spent a great deal of time ministering in Uganda, Leo suggested that one day Dw and he team up and come together to Uganda to minister.
Dw was really, really looking forward to that!

Anyway, between Wednesday and Thursday Emma and I spent 7 hours on Jjinga Road here in Uganda waiting for Ruby's passport.  Little did we know that just a little ways down that very Jjinga Road, our friend Leo,
had lost his life that very day in a

Leo had just flown into Uganda and
was doing some marriage conferences here.

We are stunned.
The world is stunned.
And yes, the world at large has lost an awesome man of God, a man of integrity, passionate pursuer of holiness and advocate of healthy marriages and families.

Please pray for his precious wife Molly, and their three daughters.

So sorry for the loss of your friend! Just wanted to let you know that as I was reading this, the song "Blessed Be Your Name" ...made me reflect on how I'm sure NAME has blessed so many throughout the world. I often hear the perfect song on the radio to describe how I'm feeling or to receive from God the message I need to hear in that moment...so I'm sure this was a message from God that Leo is safe in His arms.

I have prayed and will continue. I just sent a note via the NAME website expressing my condolences.

Thank you for sharing this Linny. My heart is sore for you in the midst of this joyous time with Ruby.

Blessings,
Shelley

Praying for God to surround Leo's family with peace and the assurance that Leo is in His presence. What a blessing for a Christian to pass from this life to eternity. Praying for you too Linn and DW.
